Marie earned her Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Public Policy from Massachusetts College of Liberals Arts. Following her schooling, she began her career with the City of Holyoke's Office of Planning and Economic Development as the Head Clerk for Economic Development. She thrived there quickly and grew her passion for public service and development, quickly being promoted to Development Specialist after one year with the city. In this role she wrote grants and collaborated with state agencies to encourage the revitalization of Holyoke and encourage economic growth. She helped to facilitate the launch of Exploreholyoke.com and the Tourism Advisory Committee.
After her time with City, she decided to further her career in development by turning to the nonprofit sector and was brought on as the Director of Development for Frank Newhall Look Memorial Park in Florence, MA. Here she grew their development program, soliciting large donations from individuals and corporate sponsors. She ran large scale fundraisers such as Santa's Trains, bringing in up to 20,000 visitors in the month of December to enjoy the holidays with Look Park and the Summer Celebration Auction.
Marie is passionate about fundraising for a good cause and engaging with community to foster new ideas, growth and bring about positive change.
