Kids in Care Holiday Gift Program

Kids in Care Holiday Gift Program

Do you see the holidays as the perfect time to help those who don’t have as much as you? Does bringing a smile to the face of a child make you happier than receiving a gift yourself? Just need another excuse to shop?

Every child deserves a chance, including the chance to have a happy holiday season!

Not all kids get that chance…

  • Often the families of the children in NCYF's care can barely afford necessities like food and warm clothing, let alone gifts for the holidays.
  • Knowing they won’t have a holiday like what they see on TV can be especially difficult for troubled and at-risk children and youth.

What is the Kids in Care Holiday Gift Program?

Over a decade ago, we were approached by people looking for ways to give back and help the children in NCYF's care during the holidays. As a result, people volunteered to:

  • set up giving trees in businesses - this gave business employees and customers a way to donate gifts for children.
  • purchase gifts for children or whole families.
  • donate money toward to purchase of gifts.

How can I help?

  • Sponsor a “Giving Tree” in your workplace. We’ll give you ornaments containing a child’s name, age, and an item from their wish list. Anyone who takes an ornament agrees to purchase that item for the child.
  • Sponsor an individual child or family – we’ll provide the name and age of the child, and their wish list and you can purchase some or all of the items on the list.
  • Donate new, unwrapped toys, games, crafts, electronics or clothes.
  • Give gift cards or cash donations toward the purchase of gifts (100% of such donations are used to purchase gifts!)

Your gifts and donations are accepted year-round and we’ll distribute the gifts at the next holiday season. Remember all gifts are tax deductible!

Contact us today – you’ll be amazed at how jolly you’ll feel knowing you’ve helped bring a smile to a child at the holidays!

Just a few examples of “Wish List” items from kids:

  • Stephanie, age 9, Barbie accessories
  • Tyler, age 14, remote control car
  • Arnold, age 6, winter coat, hat and mittens (boys size 5/6)
  • Edith, age 3, play kitchen set/toys
